No job would convince me to do it for free, no matter how noble, especially if it’s for an entity that makes a profit from my contributions. I have three kids. If I’m spending time away from them, putting in effort, expending energy, applying my skills, etc. I’d expect to be paid.
I am doing motherhood for free (no pay, no thanks), but I don’t really consider it a job. It’s something I do out of love and responsibility. I’m assuming I’d also readily step into the role of caregiver for any of my loved ones, but then again, neither would I consider it a job.
So, let’s just suffice it to say that I just generally want and need money, so no way would I be working any kind of job without getting paid. To give the prompt a twist, and by twist, I mean change it completely, I’d like to list down all the activities I wish earned me money. These are, of course, the activities I habitually waste time on.
Daydreaming – Some people do make money from doing this. They write down their daydreams and turn them into stories.
Fangirling – Some people have found a way to monetize this particular interest. They blog, collect and sell, do reaction videos, etc.
Posting on social media – Again, some people have made a lucrative career out of this.
Reading books – Some lucky stiffs do make a living from this.
Overthinking – Some people are able to come up with ideas that pay from all the analyzing and worrying they do.
Some people… I guess I’m other people.
So true!
