We’re a nation of performers. Some are more wannabe than others, but the population does have more than its fair share of talented singers. If you want to watch a live act, there’s definitely no shortage of shows you can go to.
Sometimes, you even get treated to a show that you certainly didn’t sign up for. It can be obnoxious, but there are just some people who would grab any opportunity to perform. For instance, in church, there’s a portion of the Sunday service that’s dedicated to testimonies. Unfortunately, some members are just inclined to include an impromptu song number with theirs.
The same could happen at any social event wherein somebody is asked to deliver a speech. There’s always a possibility that the speaker would feel compelled to conclude the message with a song.
And then there are the campaigning politicians. Our collective tolerance for cringe is very high, apparently.
Personally, the last live performance I saw was probably my husband who likes to whip out his Martin and serenade his family with his favorite songs. He’s a good singer, so I consider it a treat. When we first met, it was a lot of grunge and classic rock. Lately, his lineup has mostly consisted of yacht rock.
Still, that’s probably not the live performance the prompt was referring to. I think I caught parts of a play somewhere or a mall show in recent months, but I hadn’t really been paying attention, so I won’t count them.
I believe mine was actually a Prep concert. I can’t really be sure this was the last one, but it’s the most recent I remember. A couple of years ago, my husband and I stuck out as the oldies at a clearly millennial scene. I documented parts of it in my Instagram. Check it out.
A live performance I’m excited to witness is the post-military reunion concert of BTS. Two years ago, before Jin enlisted, I told myself that I should be able to save enough to see them when they start touring again. Here we are almost two years later and I haven’t saved any amount at all. My eyes are currently going around, trying to home in on anything I can sell. đ
